The state coordinator of the Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) and former Director General of Police B. Pornachadra Rao has said that the real tribute to the social reformist Jyotirao Phule is achieving 52% reservations to backward castes (BCS) in local bodies

Mr. Poornechandra Rao, in a statement on Friday on the occasion of the anniversary of the birth of Jyotirao Phule, said that the previous government had carried out the duration of the census of the census of January and February 2024, but had not revealed the findings. The Government of the NDA had revealed the BCS figures in which it was discovered that BCS constitutes 51.69%.

Mr. Poornechandra Rao said that the TDP, who states that it is PRO-BC and that he had come to power with the support of BCS, should take into account the figures and must work towards the empowerment of the BCS. “The census should not be used for political purposes, but to raise backward classes. The BCS that constitutes 52% of the population in the state must receive 52% reserve in the elections of local organizations, and in government educational institutions and recruitment in the government sector,” said Mr. Poornechandra Rao.

He said that people who belong to certain castes, which were much less in number than the BCS in terms of population, have given greater representation in the Legislative Assembly over the years.
