Bull owner killed, 24 injured in jallikattu in Pudukottai district

The owner of a bull was killed to death by a bull and another 24 were injured during a Jallikattu organized in the Meenampatti village in the district on Sunday. The event almost six hours long saw the launch of 571 bulls with the number of participating tamers of 300.

Police sources said R. Marimuthu, 23, or Porpanaikottai, near Pudukottai, a bull owner was bored by one of Jallikattu’s bulls on his chest at the collection point.

Marimuthu, who was seriously injured, was urgently taken to the place where a health department team was deployed at the scene. However, he died and his body was tasks for the autopsy hospital of the Medical College of the Government of Pudukottai.

Thirteen of the Kured people were referred to the Government Medicine Hospital of the Government of Pudukottai and the Royal 11 injured were treated as outpatients at the scene of the event, the sources added.
