The former president of the Karnataka State Commission for H. Kantharaj tords has said that socio -economic surveys or censuses must be carried out regularly to evaluate how healthy society is.

At a press conference in Shivamogga on Saturday (April 12, 2025), Mr. Kantharaj said a socioeconomic survey held when he was head of the commission was one of those exercises to evaluate the health of society. “Caste is a reality in India. Caste -based discrimination must be eradicated to achieve equality. The survey and census are essential to understand how caste has been strong in society,” he said.

He appreciated the state cabinet for consulting the report of the survey he completed. “The state cabinet has taken the report for consideration, and has decided to discuss the next meeting on April 17, 2025. I welcome this development. I hope that the state government will meet the objective of the report. Prime Minister Siddaramiaia,” “” “” “”

Previously, until 1931, the details of the caste were collected as part of the annual census. However, in the last decades an integral census of the census was not carried out. For the first time, the Karnataka government completed the survey in 2015. The survey was integral and covered all the homes of the state. “The enumerators visited by TO-BY-THRUCH and also covered the duration of the homeless people of the survey. Initially, the process was medium for 30 days. Later, another 10 days extended to include the households that remain.

Mr. Kantharaj said the survey was precise and tried to cover the entire population. “Right after repeated efforts of Commission C, some families could leave bone. The spits were closed, there was no possibility of covering such homes.

In addition, reacting to accusations that the survey was not scientific, Mr. Kantharaj said the survey was carried out scientifically. The commission studied the relevant judicial judgments and the previous reports of several commissions and also consulted experts before conducting the survey. There was no reason to call it non -scientific.
