Chennai Corporation to impose fines up to ₹5 lakh for construction and demolition rule violations

The waste of construction and demolition (C&D) waste in public spaces can now attract fines of ₹ 1,000 to ₹ 5 Lakh of the Corporation of the Great Chennai, which denounces in the accumulated area and the nature of the violation, with periods of grace allowed for rectification.

According to a press release, construction sites in an acre or talent of 70 -meter buildings must be locked with 10 -meter leaves, while the narrowest sites require 6 -meter barricades. All activities should use high density fabrics or green networks, and water spray is mandatory dusting tasks such as drilling and cutting, CCG regulations said.

Construction materials, excavated land and C&D waste must be stored on the site and cover with polyethylene or canvas sheets. Waste must be transported in covered trays or dust slides, properly segregated, and vehicles should not overload or discover. Washing is required before leaving and regular cleaning of the entry and exit points.

High height buildings must have CCTV surveillance and air pollution monitors.
