On Saturday a simulation of civic preparation security was held at the Puerto Vo Chidambaranar in Thothukudi.
The simulation was aimed at demonstrating steps to be tasks in case of potential attack on cargo ships by hostile forces. The collector of the Thothukudi district, K. Elambahavath, presided over the simulated drill.
The exercise demonstrated scenarios as an attack of foreign military forces or terrorists that lead to a fire on a cargo ship in the port. He detailed the procedures to rescue the members of the crew, evacuate and treat the injured and extinguish the fires on board.
Personnel of the Department of Fire and Rescue Services, Central Industrial Safety Force, Tamil Nadu Police, Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force, guards of origin, explorers and guides of Bharat and the National Corps of Cadets participated.

Similarly, a safety drill was carried out at the Thothukudi thermal power plant under the leadership of the District’s income officer A. Ravicandran.
