The Archbishop of Calicut Varghese Chakkalakal said Thursday that he would meet with Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in search of his speech to solve the problem of the land of Munambam and address the Conerns or about 600 people who live on earth in dispute.
Going to a Meet-Press program organized by the Calicut Press Club here after its elevation as a archbishop of the newly declared Archdiocese of Calicut, he said that he had already been invited by KV Thomas, special representative of the state government.
“The Kerala Catholic Bishops Council [KCBC] He supported the WAQF amendment bill in the hope that he addresses the concerns of 610 families living on the earth in dispute in Munambam. There were no other reasons or intentions to damage any community, “said the archbishop.
He added that the statement of the Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijijuu, that the law would not be retrospectively applicable, however, confusing.
“What we see is a peaceful life for the people of Munambam, since they now live in insecurity with frequent evacuation threats. They are not equally eligible for any loan or other legal rights on their property,” said the archbishop. He said that the whole country should be for them to find a friendly solution to the problem, crossing the limits of religion and caste.
In the problems faced by settlers in the areas of the highlands, Archbishop Chakkalakal said the matter had already been called to the attention of the prime minister in a previous meeting in the presence of bishops of other dioceses. “We trust the Government and the Prime Minister of Viable Solutions as soon as possible. We have listed the demands of the IMEDED CONSIDERING FARMERS,” he added.
Monsignor Jenson Puthenveethyl, President of Calicut Press Club, Ep Mohammed and Secretary PK Saxith were present. The installation of the new archbishop will take place in Kozhikode on May 25.
