Eight-year-old boy dies of Kyasanur Forest Disease in Manipal

An eight -year -old boy from a village near Konandur in Tarthahalli Taluk died after he was found infected with forest disease of the causes cause (KFD).

The child and his older sister had developed a high fever about 12 days ago. The parents took them to the General Hospital in Tirthahalli. When blood tests revealed KFD infection, parents transferred both children to a private hospital in Manipal.

While the girl recovered, the boy succumbed to the virus on Thursday night.

Nataraj, health officer of the Shivamogga district, said The Hindu That the two children had leg tasks to manipulate about 10 days ago. They were under treatment. While the girl recovered, the boy did not. “The death audit would be carried out to determine the cause of death,” he said.

Viral infection spreads through tick bites. People living in areas border the forest are vulnerable to the disease. Those who visit forest areas that apply tick receiver oil to avoid infection are advised. High fever, severe headache, muscle pain and vomiting are common symptoms of infection.
