The Christian community observed Ramos Sunday with a deep religious fervor, which commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, an event also known as Kuruthola Perunnaal.

The occasion marks the beginning of Holy Week, which takes believers through the sacred journey of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and, ultimately, the happy celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. The name of Sunday of La Palma originates in the branches of La Palma waved by the crowds to honor Christ when he entered the Holy City.

Special services and sentences were held in Churches throughout the district. In the Metropolitan Cathedral of Lourdes in Thrissur, the solemn service of Palm Sunday increased by a stage specifically prepared in the field of the Nirmala Matha school. The main celebrant was Mar Andrews Tazhath, archbishop of Thrissur Archdiocese (Syro-Malabar). He joined the vicar of the cathedral. José Vallooran and p. Hendrin Neelankavil as co-cerebrantes.

Holding the blessed palm leaves, the faithful recreated the real welcome that Christ received, making a procession from the land to the cathedral. The procession was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. In his homily, the archbishop invoked Bessings on all, praying so that the faithful can grow in goodness and deepen their communion with the Lord.
