Five persons held under POCSO in Tirupattur for sharing morphed pictures

Five people, including two minors, were arrested under the Pocso law by Alangayam police near Vaniyambadi in Trupattur on Thursday for sharing transformed photos of a school student on social media platforms.

Police said that arrested people were identified as S. Kalaiarasan, 27, K. Ranjith, 23, V. Santhosh, 22 and two minors.

The initial investigation revealed that the victim was active on social media platforms and published several photos in it. The gang became friends with the victim and shared photos on social media platforms. A few days ago, the gang looked for more photos of the victim. When the victim refused to share his personal photos, the gang threatened that they would send photos transformed from the victim to his parents. They also sent some photos transformed to the mango of the victim’s social networks.

Subsequently, the victim complained to his parents, who filed a complaint with Alangayam police. With contributions from the cyber crimes team, the police arrested the gang of their hiding place in Tarupattur. There was a case against them. A probe is underway.
