Forest department removes wire stuck around Indian gaur’s leg in Coonoor

The forest department undertook a challenging operation to treat an injured Gaur after a steel wire wrapped around some rear on Wednesday.

According to the officials, local residents in Melur beat in Chinna Karumbalam in the Coonoor forest mountain range, had noticed that the Gaur struggled to walk and in a visible situation after putting the legs in the cable. They informed the forest department, which is organizing an effort to eliminate the cable and treat the animal for their wounds.

Based on the instructions of the Divisional Forest Officer (Nilgiris), S. Gowtham, a forest personnel team, led by forest rangers and forest veterinarians reassured the animal with a dart before removing the cable from its hind legs. The wound created by the cable that obtained and caught around the animal’s legs were also treated by veterinarians.

The department declared that the animal is on the path of recovery and is currently being monitored by a personnel team to guarantee its complete recovery.
