The former member of the Parliament and the YSR Congress party leader, Gorantla Madhav, was arrested along with five of her associates on Friday for allegedly assaulting a defendant in police custody and obstructing the duties of the agents of the law, Guntur Guntur Guntur said.

The six defendants were referred for 14 days and sent to the Neellore prison by Guntur’s Special Mobile Court.

The incident occurred while the police transported Chebrolu Kiran, accused of making objectable comments against YSRCP head, Ys Jagan Mohhan Reddy, the wife of a YouTube interview. When the police transferred Mr. Kiran de Mangalagiri to Guntur, Madhav and his supporters allegedly intercepted the police vehicle halfway, pushed the officers aside and assaulted the accused.

Even after the police managed to assure the defendant and continued towards the headquarters of the Guntur District, the group allegedly followed in a vehicle convoy, trying even more to intimidate both the accused personnel and the police personnel. Upon reaching the police headquarters, Mr. Madhav and his associates again attacked the accused in custody.

The SP condemned the incident, emphasizing that such actions, specific to a former public representative, could incite political tensions and disturb public order. “Nobody is above the law. Taking the law in the hands itself is unacceptable,” said SáSh Kumar at a press conference on Friday. Hi, he also declared that Mr. Madhav’s background as former police officer made his behavior partially unfortunate.

Police have registered a case under the relevant sections for duty, assault and Orlawful assembly, and the six people involved some leg tasks in custody.

Those arrested were: Kurava Gorantla Madhav, Anantapur district, Chigandi Ramesh, SRI district if SAI, Damodar Size, Anantapur district, Digivinti Shiva Prasad, Chidagondla, Ramamatagire and Shunmamiagiat Sri Sathya Sai District.
