Four held in connection with 2018-murder case in Nagalapuram

The Thothukudi Police has broken a seven -year murder case and arrested four people on Sunday in relation to the murder of a man in 2018.

According to the police, the case dates back to December 23, 2018 when the police found a body of an unidentified man with injuries in the Nagalapuram forest area. Sankingapuram police had registered a case of murder and the investigation began.

It was confirmed that the deceased was R. Ponnusamy, 42, of Mamsapuram in the Virudhunagar district. Despite repeated efforts, the case remained unsolved for years due to the lack of concrete evidence. However, this February, Thothukudi Sp Albert John formed a team of five members under the supervision of Vilathikulam DSP Ashokan. The team revalued the statements of witnesses, digital records and forensic findings. Based on composer and technical research, four suspects were applied. They were identified as K. Gopalakrishnan, 64, E. Karuppasamy, 40, K. Rajajan, 36, all of Nagalapuram and K. Ramakrishnan, 55 of Kamudhi in the Ramanatapuram district.

Duration investigation, the suspects confessed to having killed the duration of ponnusamia as an altercation in an unbearned state.
