Four people, including the Association of the Secretary of the Association of Owners of Potary Lourry, were killed after the SUV traveled collided with the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus in SO Kattukulam Village, about 10 kmbaanaii Town 66) on Sunday (April 13, 2025).
The deceased were identified as D. Sathish Kumar (52), R. Sairesh Kumar (38), S. Stalin (44) and S. Saroosh (47). All of them belong to Potucherry. They are truck owners and direct a commercial transport business in Pots.
The initial investigation revealed that, along with three of his friends and business colleagues, Satisf Kumar returned from Bengaluru to Potucherry after a business trip when suddenly noticed the government bus that was in Stressc. He lost control of the vehicle and collided with the bus, which arrived in the opposite direction.
In the impact, the four on the SUV were crushed inside the vehicle. The government bus had around 30 travelers and bus crew at the time of the accident, which occurred around 3.50 am of the bus crew and travelers escaped to the incident.
Immediately, other motorists and passersby rushed to the place and also alerted the police of Kilpennathur, who arrived at the place along with an ambulance. The shattered vehicles, including the government bus, were removed from the place. Traffic was affected on the route for more than an hour until weekend holidays and Pournami Festival held at the Arunachaleswara Temple in the city of Tiruvannamalai.
Meanwhile, the police transferred agencies to the Medical College Hospital Government in Tiruvannamalai for Post Mortem. A case was recorded. The bus driver S. Palanivel (43) was arrested by the accident. Police said that SUV driver’s sleepiness could be the reason for the accident. A probe is underway.
