The Interior Minister of the Union, Amit Shah, went on Wednesday to Rising Bharat Summit 2025 and talked about many matters, from US tariff to Manipur and the cash row that involved a judge of the Superior Court.

Speaking at the summit, Shah said that the problem of the rate is a very complex matter.

“It would be too good to calculate the impact. Not only India, tariffs have also imposed the leg to another country. We may export more goods. This is a very complex matter,” he said.

President Donald Trump has imposed 26% tariffs on Indian exports to the United States. The Indian government is in contact with the United States on a commercial agreement.

When asked about the next BJP chief, Shah said nothing has been decided. “When he/she will present the nomination, people would know,” he said.

The Interior Minister said the Government has confidence in the Supreme Court process to investigate the cash row. “The Supreme Court has formed the committee. We should trust the process. When the report arrives, everything will be clear … We are waiting for this,” he said.

A large cash battery from Judge Yashwant Varma was recovered last month. However, Judge Varma has refuted all the accusations, stating that the room where the cash was found was accessible to numerous people due to their separation from the main residence.

In the process of appointing judges, Shah said: “A new debate has begun after this (cash row). We are waiting to see what the committee does.”

Shah said the Government expects things to improve in Manipur, where around 260 people have lost their lives, ethnic violence broke out between MEITEI based in Imphal Valley and neighboring communities based in Hills in May 2023.

“The president’s rule is not complete. The assembly is in suspended animation. We have hopes. We are holding conversations. We hope things will improve,” he said.

The President’s rule in Manipur won on February 13 after the then principal minister N Biren Singh resigned on February 9. The State Assembly, which has a possession until 2027, was placed in suspended animation.
