The social worker Mandala Parashuramulu has appealed to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to recommend the appointment of the Chief Information Commissioner and members of the Information Commission of the Telangana State.
In a letter addressed to the Governor on Sunday, Mr. Parashuramulu expressed a group about the growing accumulation of cases, attributing the delay in their disposal to the inadequate number of information commissioners in service. He affirmed that the delay not only violates the intention of the Law on Information (RTI), 2005, but also erodes public trust in the mechanisms aimed at transparency of promotion and responsibility in governance.
Several other RTI activists also regret not filling positions that remain vacancies during the last two years. “The Government invited the duration of the applications in the previous regime of BRS and, according to the reports, received more than 200 applications. However, the decision to occupy the vacant positions has not been made,” said RTI Potlapally Verabhadra Rao activist.
