A group of forced people entered the famous Mata Tekri temple in the city Dewas of Madhya Pradesh after he had closed at night and allegedly hit his priest when he refused to let them in, police said.

While the opposition congress said that the son of a MLA of BJP was part of the group, the police did not confirm the accusation.

According to the complaint filed by the priest at the Kotwali Police station in Dewas, Jitu Raguvanshi, who has previous criminal record, arrived at the temple on Friday night (April 11, 2025) with others in a fleet of eight to 10 cars.

The members of the group allegedly asked the priest to open the doors, and when he refused, he was supposedly abused and beaten, said the city’s superintendent or the Donsh Agrawal police to the journalists on Saturday (April 12, 2025).

A FIR was recorded against him and the images of about 50 CCTV cameras were examined, he said.

When asked if the son of a BJP leader directed the group, Agrawal told journalists that the case was under investigation.

Some videos on social networks showed a couple of cars with red beacons in the fleet that reached the foot of the temple of the hill.

The president of the Congress of the city of Dewas, Manoj Rajani, said that a certain MLA of BJP should keep an eye son “who did such an act despite being a sanatani.”
