According to the police, the man tried to flee but lost control, skating and falling on the road. A bus, which comes from behind, ran over him, and died on the spot.

A man by bicycle died on Sunday as he allegedly tried to escape a routine traffic control, police said.

The incident occurred in the Balanagar area when the 35 -year -old man, a carpenter, was arrested by the Traffic Police for routine control.

The motorcyclist tried to flee but lost control, skating and falling on the road. A bus, which comes from behind, ran over him, and died on the spot, said the police.

After the incident, local residents made a protest, blocking the way and blaming a traffic agent for the accident, accusing him of negligence.

The protesters also claimed that the agent was drunk.

Police said they checked the CCTV images, which revealed that the cyclist himself had slipped.

A case was filed against the traffic agent at the Balanagar police station after a complaint from the deceased’s brother.

Additional investigation is being carried out.
