The central government has launched systematic assaults on freedom of expression, independence of the press and civil freedom, N. Ram, director, the Hindu group, he said.

Speaking in the final session of Peruma’s conversations in Pinarayi on Sunday, Mr. Ram accused the government of the union of ‘anti -terrorism, sedition and other draconian laws to imprison journalists, students, human rights activists and civil rights, and government critics, or denying the extended bond.

“Since 2014, India has a constant decrease in the global press freedom ranking. In the last index, it is found in 159 of 180 countries and territories,” RAM said, referring to the annual index of world press freedom.

“He thought that the Government disputes the classification of the thesis, has not been able to provide a convincing explanation. The facts point to a gloomy scenario,” he added.

The cheerful that the government “had almost surely deployed the Pegaso Israeli military spyware for the illegal surveillance of journalists, politicians, members of civil society and others.” It was observed that such surveillance was a serious violation of democratic norms.

Highlighting the Digital Personal Data Protection Law and the Broadcasting Law Project (Regulation), RAM said these were part of a concerted effort to monitor and censor internet, digital news suppliers, social networks and transmission platforms.

“This repression comes at a time when printed journalism is decreasing and many talented journalists, due to economic difficulties and repression, have resorted to YouTube and other platforms to publish their work.
