Mehul Choksi, accused in the case of RS fraud 13,000 million rupees, was arrested in Belgium while allegedly tried to flee to Switzerland. The revocation of its citizenship is currently pending in court.

Mehul Choksi, who was arrested in Belgium for his participation in the case of loan fraud of the National Punjab RS Bank 13,000 million rupees, has been evading the authorities since 2018. Several media reports suggest that Choksi was finally arrested while planning to change.
Chaksi had gone to Belgium for receiving medical treatment. The reports suggest that it was treated for blood cancer. He had stayed in Antigua since 2018 after leaving India.
The PTI news agency cited the sources saying that Interpol Red Red notice against him to judge was “eliminated” at some point and the Indian agencies pursued him through the extradition route since then.
Choksi, Modi, their relatives and employees, bank officials and others were reserved by the CBI and the emergency service in 2018 for perpetrating the alleged loan fraud at the Brady House branch of the National Bank of Punjab (PNB) in Mumbai.

Speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, confirmed that his government had ordered the revocation of Choksi’s citizenship. However, he said the matter was pending in court.
