The National League of India (INL) has started in the Indian Union Muslim League (Iil) on its opposition to the WAQF (amendment) law, questioning its credibility in the light of aligned attempts to usurp the WAQF property in Kannuramba.
Addressing the media on Thursday (April 17, 2025), the general secretary of the state of INL, Kassim Iikkur, accused the iiuml of hypocrisy, saying that the party had no moral authority to protest the amendment again while allegedly continued the efforts to take advantage of.
Highlighting the history of the Muslim Educational Association of the Cannanore District (CDMEA), Mr. Irikkur recalled its foundation in 1964 under V. Khalid and the establishment of Sir Syed College in Taliparamba in 1967 to address the educational background of Muslims in the north of Malabar. The university, he said, was initially directed by leaders of the apolitical community, but over time, the control of Tok IIuml, gradually filling the University Government Committee with its affiliates.
The assumption that 22 acres, originally owned by a James mosque that pays taxes and leased the university for 99 years, had an effective leg appropriate by the CDMEA controlled by English. “The amount of the lease was raised from ₹ 3000 in 2004 to ₹ 3 Lakh after public pressure,” he said, added that the association had illegally transferred the WAQF Earth title to its own name.
Mr. Irikkur also accused the iiuml of unbridled corruption and nepotism, citing irregularities in Seethi Sahib high school. “The WAQF Board Audit Report revealed that ₹ 15 Lakh was diverted to ensure a more additional lot for the school duration of the tenure of a league leader as Minister of Education,” he said.
In the midst of the national debate on WAQF law, Mr. Irikkur said the league was trying to ensure the control of WAQF Country, rented for a long time, and added that the Ministry of Interior had appointed Farook College and the Muslim League Association of the District as accused in the case of Munambam.
