The affirmation of the West Bengal Prime Minister, Mamata Banerjee, that the WAQF Modified Law was not implemented in his state “was not correct,” said Monday 14, 2025) the Minister of Law of the Union, Arjun Ram Meghwal, (April 14, 2025).

His comments were in response to a question about the violence in the District of Murshidabad of Western Bengal on the WAQF Law (amendment) and the subsequent statement of the principal minister.

By pointing out that he had made a comment similar to the Citizenship Law (amendment), said Meghwal: “But Caa was implemented in Western Bengal.”

“He [Waqf Act] It is a law promulgated by the Parliament that is implemented PAN-India. If there is a duration of the difficulty, its implementation, suggestions can be made to frame the rules, ”said Mr. Meghwal outside a function to commemorate the 135th anniversary of birth or Dr. Br Ambedkar.

Since Friday, at least three people have been killed and several other wounds in the violence that exploded in the areas of Suti, Dhulian, Samsergerj and Jangipur of Muslim-Major Murshidabad.

After violence, prohibition orders have been imposed under section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Internet has been suspended and BSF staff has been deployed in the affected areas of Murshidabad.
