In a historical rescue operation, Maharashtra Cyber has brought home to some 60 Indian nationals who were trapped in a disturbing racket of “cybernetic slavery” that works outside Myanmar. These individuals were attracted to false promises of high works abroad, just to be forced to cyber crimes networks administered by armed rebel groups.
Acting quickly, the maharashtra cyber cell assured its safe performance and launched a deep investigation into this ring of organized crimes. Initially, the victims were addressed through popular social networks platforms by agents that passed by legitimate work recruiters. After ensuring their trust, these agents organized their trip to Thailand under tourist visas. When landing, however, the victims were tasks on an exhausting road trip to the border of Mynar Thai. They were smuggling of a river to Myanmar and captive hero in fortified compounds controlled by cyber crimes unions. Cutted and threatened, they were forced to participate in online scams ranging from digital trial fraud to false investment schemes.
It was found that the operation of the cyber crime was well organized and staggered. Input level recruits created false female identities for bait objectives. The average level actors passed by officials to further manipulate the victims, while the higher agents handled financial transactions. The victims were coerced to sign one year contracts and any communication with the outside world was denied. According to the reports, the agents that trafficked them won up to $ 1,000 per person. After the rescue, Maharashtra Cybernetics registered three FIR under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the you law. Five defendants have been arrested, including a small actor, Manish Gray (also known as Maddy), who played an important role in traffic. Others include Indian citizens and a foreign citizen identified as Talaniti nullixi, who allegedly planned to establish a unit of cyber crimes in India. The investigations revealed that these defendants were operating outside Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and India, actively recruiting vulnerable individuals through deceptive means.
Maharashtra Cyber continues to investigate the case and is registering statements from all rescued people to expose each link in this international network. Citizens are strongly recommended to be cautious with the job offers that promise high wages abroad, especially those that circulate through unsecured sources. Maharashtra Cyber has urged people to report any suspicious activity to the authorities to avoid being victims of such cybercrime traps.
