The Western Bengal Government on Thursday (April 17, 2025) welcomed the order of the Supreme Court to allow the “not contaminated” teachers to continue their service until the end of the year. The court said they could retain their work until a new recruitment process is carried out at the end of 2025.
“This is a great relief at the moment. We were confused about how teachers will be paid their salaries after the last one. We were looking for support solutions. Now our appeal has been heard … teachers will be paid for salaries in time.
More than 26,000 teaching and non -teaching staff of the Oid government schools had lost their jobs after the Supreme Court on April 3 confirmed the cancellation of a previous “contaminated” selection process.

While many people have claimed that the Government would drag the recruitment process to the 2026 assembly elections, the prime minister said the crisis would be resolved at the end of the year.
The Supreme Court also asked the State Government and the Secondary Education authorities to submit an affidavit before May 31 with the schedule of the entire recruitment process that will be ended before December 31.
Mrs. Banerjee also urged teachers to return to work as usual and perform their classes as before. “Do not fall into the trap of conspiracies and maintain faith in the law and government. We will legally find a way of doing things well,” he said.

‘Only temporary relief’
The teachers who make a manifestation of sitting on the channel and in Esplanade, Kolkata, said that the order of the Superior Court was a momentary relief and not a permanent solution for their difficult situation.
“It is as if we have now given us a Tim frame -tim until when we can stay alive. How will we take classes and love our students when we know that our days are numbered?” Mehboob Mondal, one of the spokesmen of the deserving forum of teachers rights.
The Supreme Court did not restore the work of the “non -polluted” non -teaching staff that were part of the 26,000 people who lost their work, a decision that has created anguish between the harmed lot. One of those protesters said: “They are drawing a line among the headlines of teaching and not teaching. Why this discrimination?”
Many of the “non -polluted” teachers have said they did not want to participate in another round of exams when they had hired the legs without any means.
BJP deputy, Sukanta Majumdar said he welcomed the measure of the Supreme Court, but refused to comment more.
The Minister of Education of the State, Bratya Basu, had previously assured the Protestant teachers who would publish a list of “contaminated” and “non -contaminated” candidates before April 21, if the law allowed it. According to the reports, the Western Bengal School Service Commission has already submitted those lists to the Government; When they would be public, they remain to be seen.
