A day after Anti-Aadhaar card protesters took to the streets of Shillong, Meghalaya received two main awards from the Indian Single Identification Authority (UIDAI).

The UIDAI, which is the unique identification number of 12 digits, recognized Meghalaya as the best performance state to carry out mandatory biometric updates or children and in the verification of the registration of AADHAR in adults.

Shai Kupar War, the Nodal Officer (AADHAR) in the Department of General State Administration, received the awards on behalf of the Government in New Delhi on April 8.

“This recognition reflects the unwavering commitment and dedication of our AADHAAR team of field personnel to district officials and technical personnel,” said Joram Beda, commissioner and secretary of the state government.
