The notification covers approximately two workers of millions of rupees in 100 scheduled jobs, including 18 aggregates in recent years, and is based on the directive of the Supreme Court in the Rapoticas Brett case.
The salary review is required at least once every five years under the minimum wage law. The last salary review was carried out by the BJP government in 2022, which implemented a salary increase from 5% to 10% in 34 scheduled employment.

The whole process is expected to take at least three months before the salary increase is finally notified.
Return to three areas
The new notification refers to three areas of the existing classification of four areas for salary calculations. The fourth zone added in the last review had brought anomalies, in some cases knocking down wages. While zone 1 covers the BBMP area, zone 2 will cover the district headquarters and other municipal corporations, and zone 3 will cover the rest of the areas of the state. Be challenged
Meanwhile, the president of the Karnataka Employers Association, BC Prabhakar, said they present an objection to the notification draft and legally challenge it later. “The steep walk is that the minimum salaries of Karnataka are the highest in the country, surpassing Delhi. This can be counterproductive, increasing the cost of production. Some industries could emigrate to neighboring states, where minimum wages are much lower. Great blow to the intensive industries in labor,” he said.
For those of religious institutions
For the first time, minimum wages have spread to those who work in religious institutions, including temples, mutters, mosques, churches, gurudwaras, Basadis, Viharas, Arya Samaj, theosophical society and Iskcon and Iskers.
