Mumbai Water Tailer Association announced on Monday the withdrawal of the indefinite strike and the resumption of the water supply with immediate effect.
The measure follows the invocation of the 2005 Disaster Management Law by the Municipal Corporation of BrihanMumbai on Sunday, requesting private water oil tankers, Wells and Borewells.
“We have decided to withdraw the indefinite strike and resume the water supply in Mumbai with immediate effect,” MWTA, general secretary of MWTA.
The Association launched the strike on April 10 after BMC issued notices to private well owners who supply water to the tankers. The move affected the water supply to residential societies, railways and construction projects, among others.
Subsequently, the notices issued to the owners of Well and Borewell were suspended until June 15 after the directives of Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Minister of the Union of Jal Shakti.
