The Western Bengal Police said Thursday (April 17, 2025) that 60 FIR have been presented in relation to violence in the Murshidabad district and that the number of judges has risen to 274.
The Director General of Additional Police (South Bengal) Obratim Sarkar said that a special research team has formed under the leadership of Syed Waquar Raza, DIG OF THE MURSHIDABAD RANGE.
Mr. Sarkar added that the police arrested the main accused in the murder of two men of the same family, Haragobind das and Chandan Das. The police officer said that the defendant, Singulacula, who had been fleeing, will be produced before a court. “

The Kolkata Police Commissioner, Boj Verma, visited Bhangar parts in the South 24 Parganas district, which also saw violence related to protests against the WAQF law (amendment). Mr. Verma said the situation was “absolutely peaceful.” The supporters of the Indian Secular Front (ISF) and the police had faced on Monday. 17 people have been arrested, and the commissioner said that more trial will be made.
