Airasia has started a direct service between Kochi and Phuket, improving air connectivity between Kerala and Thailand. The new service operates three times a week: Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

The managing director of the Cochin Limited International Airport (Cial) S. Suhas inaugurated the service. The director of the airport G. Manu, the general manager of Air Asia, Suresh Nair, and the manager of the M. Poobathraj airport were present.

Flights are operated using airbus A320 aircraft. Leaving Kochi at 2:45 am, the flight arrives at Phuket at 8:05 am (local time), offering convenient early access to the popular Thai destination, said a launch issued by Cial.

The senior officials of the Central Industrial Safety, Immigration and other departments and representatives of several airlines attended the launch event.
