The Andhra Pradesh Cattle Development Agency (APLDA) has planned to promote the artificial insemination of livestock, the use of semen technology with sexual classification widely to guarantee more calves, thus increasing milk production and income farmers.

The apple has achieved initial success in the construction of trust among dairy producers in calves production (more than 90%) using this technology.

The animal breeding department has carried out 1,23,677 inseminations so far and the results are encouraging, with a proportion of female and male calves of around 91: 9, Dr. Ir. M. Srinivasa Rao, executive director (in the animal director’s picture), said Guntur, said Guntur The Hindu On Friday.

What is semen classified by sex?

Semen classified by sex is processed to separate sperm cells transported by the X chromosome (causing female offspring) or chromosome and (causing male offspring), increasing the possibilities of producing desired sex calves.

The application aims to promote this technology in the state, under the accelerated breed improvement project (ABIP)- Semen project with sexual classification.

“It has a bone planned to perform 4,00,000 inseminations using semen technology with sexual classification this year, covering at least 10% of the population of creatable cattle in the state,” Dr. Ir. Srinivasa Rao said.

If everything goes well, the use of conventional semen will be replaced by semen with sexual classification in five years. With indigenous sexual classification technology, the cost of semen production classified by sex will go further, he said.

CHANGE OF GAME IN ANIMAL RAISE

“Semen technology with sexual classification is a change of play in animal breeding. This helps duplicate the income of dairy farmers in two or three years due to the improved production of milk and the production of calves,” explained the CEO.

The central and Andhra Pradesh governments have launched semen technology classified by sex to promote calves production in the state, resulting in more milk and calves under the Rashtriya Gokul mission.

He said that the project had launched the leg with the aim of producing more than 90% calves in a short period, thus increasing animal wealth in rural areas.

According to this project, at least 35 to 40 animals ‘elite’ belonging to farmers interested in each district will be identified. After an agreement with the farmers, there is the possibility of at least 25 female births of calves. These calves will conceive after three or four years. After delivery, there will be an incremental production or 200 liters to 250 liters for a breastfeeding cycle.

Farmers can get pregnant with their animals under the scheme. They need to register normal cycle heifers (cows or buffalo) in their first to third breastfeeding, between 60 and 90 days after childbirth. Healthy and disease -free animals will be selected for the scheme, he said.

The CEO said races such as Murrah, Jersey, Holstein Friesian, cross -raised jersey, Holstein Friesian, Gir, Sahiwal will be avially for farmers.

Under this program, two straws at a subsidized price of ₹ 675 will become avoidable to perform artificial insemination, he added.
