Karnataka is fourth in terms of organ commitment in the country, according to the data of the National Organization and Tissue Transplant Organization (Notary).

As or April 17, while Karnataka has registered 35,920 promises so far, Maharashtra has the highest with 50,886 records. Rajasthan and Gujarat continue with 43,376 and 36,550 records.

Among the districts, Dharwad has registered the largest number of promises with 8,196 records so far. Dharwad is followed by Ballari (8,095). These two districts have registered the second and third highest promises in the country after Ahmedabad, which has registered the highest in 29,763 promises.

Higher youth registrations

The highest promise has been recorded in the age group of 30-45 years with 16,045 people in this age group promising its organists. This is followed by those in the age group of 18-30 years with 8,423 records.

Women have surpassed people in organ commitment, with 18,655 of the total of 35,920 records for women, according to the data.

QR code

To commit to organ donation in Karnataka, people can use the Noto QR code, which is linked to the State Health Department initiative to simplify the process. This QR code that was launched in 2023 can be found on the Notto or Jeevasarhakathe websites, the State and Tisos Transplant Organization of the State (Sotto), the Nodal Agency that facilitates corpses organizations.

Rajani M., State Joint Director (Medical), said the body increased after the introduction of the QR code and a campaign launched by the Ministry of Health of the Union last year to encourage understanding.

“People can use the QR code reader on their smartphones or other devices to scan the code and complete the commitment form. After the successful commitment record, the person will recover a donor card with a unique registration number. We are working with all PLEDSgang hospitals,” the options make the promising process easier and more accessible.

Organ donations

When this year takes into account the tasks, Karnataka has donations of SEN 63 organs until April 17. He has a leg registering around 150 donations during the last three consecutive years annually. This year, until now, while Tamil Nadu has registered the highest donations at age 74, Telangana has 64 donations.

Less than 5% becomes donations

Althegh, the number of people who promise organs is increasing, not only 5% of them become donors. Naushad Pasha, main transplant coordinator in Jeevasarthakathe/Sotto, said that of the total of 1,155 donations of organizations in Karnataka so far (since 2007), no more than 15 donations are those who have promised organizers.

Preparing the reasons, he said sometimes, the identified donor is not suitable for donating due to clinical reasons. “Or some of the circle of the family of donors/family/friends, they say not to the donation of organs and the following do not have much, for example, a decision against the desire that they oppose those who oppose. It is important that people keep their families aware as they promise organists.
