Three statues of Lord Murugan, more than 100 feet high, would be installed in three temples in the State, the Minister of Endowments of Hindu and Charitable Religious (HR and CE), announced Thursday at the Assembly.
A statue of Lord Murugan, which measures 184 feet high, would be installed in the Aulmigu Subramaniyaswamy temple in Marudhamhalai in the Coimbatore district, along with a museum and parking lots, at a cost of ₹ 110 million rupees, he said.
While a statue, which measures 180 feet high, would be installed in the Aulmigu Velayudhashamy temple in Thindal in the Erode district at a cost of ₹ 30 million rupees, another that measures 114 feet high, would appear in the Aulmigu Subramaniyaswamy temple in Timiri in the Ranipet district in ₹ 6.83 Crore, he said.
No Darshan Rate
The minister also announced that the rate would not be collected for special darshan and days of special festival at the Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore (Maha Shivarratri), Swamy Subramania Temple in Truchendur (Kanda Sashti Festival), Dhandayudhapani temple swamy, Palani (Panguni uthiram), Ranganatha Swamy temple, Srirangam (VAIKUNTA EKADESI), Subramaniya Swamy Temple, Tyruttani (Aadi Kiruthigai), Meenakshi temple sundarieswarar, maturai (Meenakshi Thirktkalyanam), Ramanathaswamy temple, Rameswaram (Aadi amavasai), Bannari Mariyamman temple in Bannari (Art Festival), Swamy Swamy Temple in Sankarankoil (Aadi Thapasu), and Thiruvarutpragasa Vallalaar Dheiva Nilaiyam, Vadalur (Thaipoosam).
In the gold investment scheme lines, the Government plans to melt the unusable and useless silver items in the temples under the control of the Human Resources and CE department in pure silver bars.
The minister also said that the work was in progress to establish an integrated shelter for cows in the Kovilpathagai temple perumal in Avadi, the Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai, the Vedha Pureeshwar temple in Cheyyar.

Boiled milk
Mr. Sekarbabu said that boiled milk would be distributed to the children of devotees that come to the temples administered by the Department of Human Resources and CE.
This initiative will cover main temples in Truchendur, Srirangam, Samayapuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruttani, Anamalai, Bannari, Thiroparankunkram, Marudhamhalai and Periyapalayam.
