The residents of a housing society in the Great Noida have complained about vomiting and stomach pain due to the contamination of water suspended at the facilities, authorities said.

According to reports, more than 200 people became ill in Ajnara Homes alleging pollution of drinking water in the last four days.

Narendar Kumar, medical director of Noida, told PTI: “The authorities have collected water samples from society where a medical camp will be organized on Wednesday for residents, who complained about stomach pain, vomiting and abdominal discomfort.”

Dinkar Pandey, a resident of society, said: “We have faced the problem during the last four days, which has affected more than 200 residents of society. The numbers can rise to 400-500. Another resident claimed that water tanks in society have not been cleaned for some time, which leads to water pollution.

“I got sick after drinking the water supplied in society, which I changed after the doctor’s recommendation. Now I feel better,” said a resident.

Another member of society, Rajkumar, said: “At least one person in each family became ill due to water pollution.” Talking to PTI, Chandan Sinha, president of the Association of Apartment Owners, said: “The authorities have collected water samples from society. Also with the CEO of the Greater Noida authority and we create our Conerns.”
