Palghar district in Maharashtra trains 259 gram panchayats in disaster management

Around 250 grams of Panchayats in the district of Palghar or Maharashtra have been equipped with special design disasters response kits provided by the State Disaster Management Authority for the use of emergencies in rural areas. The residents of the 259 villages will receive training in disaster management in May, said Disaster Management officer, Palghar, Vivekananda Kadam.

Previously, these kits were only distributed among the Tehsildars at the Taluka level and the fire brigades. This is the first time that Gram Panchayats receives disaster kits.
