Palm Sunday celebrated in Idukki

The believers in the Hill of Idukki observed Ramos Sunday with religious fervor on Sunday.

Bishop Idukki Mar John Nellikkunnel directed the special service in the Rajakumari Deivamatha church on Sunday morning.

“The division is the cause of damage to families and society. A collective effort is needed to show unity and solidarity against this,” said Mar Nellikkunnel in his message duration, the Holy Mass.

The special mass was sacrificed as part of Palm Sunday celebrations in several churches in various parts of the district.

Hundreds of faithful from the various Catholic denominations participated in the procession and mass.

As part of the celebrations, the believers paraded around the churches with tender coconut palm leaves (Kuruthola). Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine Tok is part of the service in the Cathedral of Vazhache St George under the diocese of Idukki. The vicar of the Francis Edavakandam church directed the Holy Mass.

Jacobita Syrian Church High rank region Bishop Dr. Elias Mor Athanasiosos led the service in Idukki Murikktty St George Jacobite Sirian Church.

On Palm Sunday, also known locally as ‘Osana Njayar’ and ‘Kuruthola Perunal’, marks the beginning of Holy Week.
