A set of parachute developed for the first unbeatable mission of the Gaganyaan Space Flight Program of India was sent from AGRA on Monday (May 5, 2025). The parachutes were developed by the establishment of research and development of aerial delivery (ADRDE), an agra -based laboratory under the organization of Research and Development of Defense (DRDO).

“The indigenous developed parachutes for the safe return of the capsule that will take astronauts under the proposed Gaganyaan program to suffer [testing in an] Non -manned mission of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), ”said Adrde. According to the statement, the parachute configuration consists of 10 parachutes designed for sequential implementation.

Under the Gaganyaan program, Isro aims to send a crew of two or three astronauts to the low terrestrial orbit (Leo).

By explaining the duration flight of the recovery sequence, the ADRDE statement explained that it begins with the deployment of two parachutes of Apex coverage separation (which protect the main parachute compartment). This is followed by two drug parachutes to stabilize the module and reduce its speed. Subsequently, after the launch of the chute drugs, three pilot parachutes are deployed to extract the three main parachutes individually. The main parachutes are designed to reduce the speed of the crew module to safe levels to land.

The parachutes of the flight unit were formally marked by Dr. Boj Kumar, director of ADRDE. They have bone sent to the establishment of integration and satellite test isro (ISITE) in Bengaluru.

These parachutes are intended for the first mission of Gaganyaan not introduced, designated G-1. The ADRDE team will proceed to gather the parachutes with the Module of the crew in Isite in preparation for this mission, which is planned by the end of this year.
