The Supreme Court of the Nationalist Congress (Sharadchandra Pawar), Sharad Pawar, has supported the demand for government work candidates to increase the number of vacancies for the Public Service Commissions of Maharashtra (MPSC) next combination of preliminary joint exam (JPE).
He assured a delegation of applicants who would take their concerns with Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The JPE, tentatively scheduled for September, is a common preliminary test for positions such as the Police Subinspector (PSI), the State Tax Inspector (STIs) and the assistant officer of the Section (ASO).
“This exam is being carried out after two years, but only 480 vacancies have been announced, which is insufficient,” Pawar said on the X Social Network Platform. Hey argued that the increase in vacancies would be aligned with MPSC’s recent decision to increase the qualification age limit for candidates.
“The Government and MPSC should not have objections to the expansion of vacancies, since many positions remain without filling,” he added.
The delegation also sought more preparation time for the main examination of state services 2024. Pawar revealed that, although the president of MPSC had agreed to meet with students on April 15, the meeting was postponed. They urged the commission to consider the demands favorably and make a quick decision.
The protest of the applicants highlights the growing frustration in limited opportunities in the competitive recruitment process of Maharashtra.
The main leader of the Congress, Vijay Wadettiwar, abruptly criticized the Maharashtra government for its apparent contempt for the protest of the MPSC applicants, accusing the administration of priorities out of place.
In expressing his dismay for the ongoing protests, Mr. Wadettiwar questioned the government’s approach, stating: “What really does this government drive? Deniating opportunities for discussion, retaining essential funds and prioritizing the tea meeting with the central ministers: Dohhhes or MPSCy Outwery?” His comments occurred in the midst of increasing disturbances among civil service aspiring who demanded fair exam policies.
The stressed in two unresolved key demands: Additional preparation time for the main examination of state services 2024 and the increase in vacancies in the combined preliminary examination. “These are legitimate groups that fall directly within the reach of the government, but continue to be ignored.
