There has been a request for a dispute of public interest (pill) in the Superior Court of Madras to declare a speech delivered by Forestry Minister K. Ponmudy against Saivites, Vaishnavites and women in general against their oath.

The lawyer B. Jagannath of Chennai presented the Pil Pil petition claiming that the supposed derogatory discourse of the minister was against the constitutional provisions that required each minister to swear that he/she does well or in the favorites.

The petitioner said that even the leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and a member of Thothukudi Lok Sabha, Kanimozhi, had condemned the speech delivered by the minister at a meeting organized by Thhanhai periyar Dravidar Kazhagam.
