The common entry test-2025 (CET-2025), which is the entrance door for admission to professional courses, including engineering, in early April 15, 2025.
The sources have alleged that the police arrested the investigation due to political pressure. The concerns have raised the leg that this can lead to similar illegalities that are used this year.
“We have presented a charges against 11 people involved in the scam, detailing their modus operandi and intentions. The case is pending trial,” said a senior police officer who is part of the investigation.
“However, if the position sheet occurs without investigating the engineering universities involved in the scam and without collecting information about the financial transactions they place, the defendant can be easily acquitted,” Karnataka officials said).
2,000 locked seats
When misuse of the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of the candidates requesting government fees in private schools, some deceased blocked more than 2,000 engineering seats of the academic year 2024–25. In this sense, the KEA registered a FIR at the Malleshwaram Police station on November 14, 2025.
Police arrested 10 people, including a contractual employee of the KEA, for their alleged participation and recovered 13 mobile phones, three laptops and several other documents, some of which were supposedly established soon in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Subsequently, notices were sent to BMS College of Engineering, the Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology, and the New Horizon College of Engineering, which were named in the FIR as alleged beneficiaries of the scam.
However, BMS College of Engineering approached the Superior Court of Karnataka to challenge the case.
The Court addressed the City Police not to take any coercive action against the BMS Faculty of Engineering, but indicated to the university authorities to cooperate with the police investigation in an order dating from December 16, 2024.
In the midst of all this, the Configuration Directorate (ED) also wrote to the KEA in December looking for information about the engineering seat lock scam.
Political pressure?
The sources said that some politicians, who strongly opposed the rhythm of the investigation, pressed the police to stop the investigation at the moment.
The defendants were arrested after investigations carried out in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and other states connected to the case.
“One of the arrested accused of Tumakuru is a full -time worker of a national political party and had shared the stage with a minister of the Union in a Jansspanana program,” police sources said.
In addition, police sources confirmed that they had also been arrested by Tamil Nadu police in an earlier case blocking. It is also known that some of the arrested people were involved in a medical seat lock scam in the past.
Fathers’ concern
Parents are worried since research has not reached a logical end.
“My son took the CET-2025 this year and wants to follow the computer engineering. He obtained good grades in II PU. I am concerned about what will happen if the criminals continue to block the seats this year. The government should complete the investigation into the blocker case last year before the start of CET’s advice and take measures to punish the accused,” he urged Padmanabha, father of Bengalur.
Talking with The HinduThe Minister of Higher Education, MC Sudhakar, said: “I will soon meet with the city commissioner of the city of Bengaluru and I will urge you to complete the investigation as soon as possible. If they do not, we will consider conducting the investigation through Otheon.”
