A delegation of residents of the village of Siddyyanapura in the district of Chamarajanagar recently met with the attached commissioner Shilpa, expressing concern for his future following Prmoda Devi Wadiyar of the former Royal Family of Mysore claim in more than 4,500 acres of land in parts of the district.
Mrs. Wadiyar had sent a letter to the deputy commissioner of the District and senior officials, including the Kollegal assistant commissioner, Tahsildar de Chamarajanagar, deputy director and assistant director of land records in Chamarajanagar, pointing out the Privatewythyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyhyws with the private. In the letter dated March 20, 2025, Mrs. Wadiyar had included the number of land surveys in several villages in the district belonging to the old royal family while urging the authorities to issue a khata to the properties in her name.
While opposing Khatas’ names of any other person, Mrs. Wadiyar said she was presenting the petition following the reports that private properties belonging to the old royal family were becoming income villages. He has also urged the district administration to stop all property related transactions.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Nag, who confirmed the reception of the letter from Mrs. Wadiyar, said she had already asked the assistant commissioner and Tahsildar to verify the claims. She also pointed out that more. Wadiyar had not submitted any document, legal notice or judicial orders to support their claims.
She said there were several areas in the district where the issue of Khatas to the property had not been resolved between income and the forest department. After resolving the same, the district administration was processing to create income villages according to government instructions and the villagers application, he said.
After meeting the residents of Siddyyanapura, Mrs. Nag said that a decision will be tasks only after the verification process is completed.
Meanwhile, the village residents recalled that the late Sri Jayachalaja Wadiyar had donated the earth, and resided in the town for decades. After the deceased Maharaja of Mysore donated the land, the villagers affirmed that the government had regularized it for them. The villagers said they had nowhere to go if they were evicted from the village.
