India rejected Bangladesh’s claims on Friday, which required the protection of the minority Muslim population in Western Bengal, after violent protests against the modified WAQF bill.
“We reject the comments made by the Bangladesh side regarding the incidents in Western Bengal,” said the Ministry of External Affairs in an official statement.
“This is a barely disguised and false attempt to draw a parallel with India’s groups about the continuous persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, where criminal perpetrators of such acts continue to wander freely. It is better to concentrate on protecting the rights of their own minorities,” the statement added.
