In intensifying the heat of the Government of the Trinamool Congress for recent communal clashes in Murshidabad, BJP MLA observed Wednesday as’Hindu Shahid Diwas (Hindu martyrs ‘day)’, maintaining protests near the Western Bengal Assembly.

The protests were directed by the opposition leader (LOP) Suvendu Adhikari, who said that Prime Minister Mamata Banerje has not been able to protect the people of the state.

₹ 10 Lakh for the chin of the victims

Three people were killed in the violence that exploded on April 11 and 12, including two family members, Haragobind Das and Chandan Das, who were killed by a mafia and Izaz Ahmed Sheikion, 17. Mrs. Banerjee announced on Wednesday that ₹ 10 Lakh would be delivered to the couple of each of the deceased.

The opposition leader has approached the Superior Court of Calcutta in search of permission to visit the areas affected by the violence of the Murshidabad district. Mr. Adhikari has also sought an investigation into violence by the National Research Agency (NIA).

Protest at the police headquarters

The state president of BJP, Sukanta Majumdar, joined eight to ten victims of violence in a demonstration in Bhavani Bhavan, headquarters of the West Bengal Police, demanding a meeting with senior police officers. Mr. Majumdar also demanded that all perpetrators be identified.

‘Cm must visit the affected areas’

The main leader of the Congress, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, asked the principal minister to visit the areas affected by violence in comments to comment on violence while setting in Kolkata,

“You issue Kolkata statements about violence, but you have not been able to visit the affected areas: Samsergerj, Suti, Dhulian, Jangipur, to date,” said Chowdhury. The former deputy of the Congress, who visited the areas affected by the disturbances, said that despite winning most of the region’s seats, public representatives of the ruling TMC “were not seen with the people affected in this moment of crisis.”

The prime minister, however, said that violence occurred in Dhulian and Shamsheranj, which fall within the limits of Malda Dakshin Lok Sabha Sabha represented by the deputy of the Congress Isha Khan Chowdhury.
