The protests on the WAQF (amendment) law continued in Western Bengal on Friday (April 11, 2025), with students from the University of Aliah in Kolkata taking a rally that protested by the WAQF law (amendment) and demands that they retire. A manifestation in Amta in the district of South 24 Parganas became violent, where protesters attacked a police vehicle, claimed that the West Baratiya Janata Sukanta Majumdar match.
“In Amala Chowrasta of Diamond Harbor, the Muslim mobs that protest against the WAQF Vandalte law a police vehicle in broad daylight,” said the BJP leader, accusing the police for not acting against the protesters. In Kolkata, the students of the University of Aliah made protests in the Park Circus area that raise slogans to retire.
On Thursday (April 11, 2025), the Minister of the State and president of Jamiat-e-anme Hind Siddiqullah Chowdhury organized a great meeting in protest of the WAQF law (amendment). The minister told the meeting that Prime Minister Mamata Banerje had it and said that a motion would be presented at the state assembly against WAQF (amendment). In the midst of a violent protest for the WAQF Law (amendment), the prime minister had assured members of the minority community that would protect their rights and land and asked them not to be “restless.”
Meanwhile, the situation in Murshidabad, where violence had exploded this week, remained tense. There were reports of the deployment of BSF in areas where violence was reported. The president of the state of BJP, Sukanta Majumdar, also alleged on social networks that “several express trains are being blocked, passengers are stranded, terrified and railway facilities have become war areas” in Murshidabad.
The opposition leader, Suvendu Adhikari, visited Mothabari on Friday in the district of Malda, where there had been communal clashes a few days ago.
“Today I with the affected people and interacted with them and tried to address their concerns. Angusticated people have lost their faith in the administration. I have assured them any possible support, including legal aid and the summary.” Adhikari said on social networks.
Speaking to the mediators, the opposition leader said that only the Judiciary is an appeal to the people of the State and that people must accommodate Forses wherever there are outbreaks. Mr. Adhikari also said that a section of “secular media” does not count on the people who happen in the state.
