A shocking case has emerged from the Indira Gandhi International Airport that involves a young man from Punjab who was deported by Hong Kong after nine years. The incident revolves around Harpal Singh, who left Amritsar Hong Kong in February 2016 in search of employment and looked for asylum upon arrival.
An agent named Sunny facilitated his movement for a RS 2 Lakh rate, but confiscated Harpal’s passport immediately upon arriving at Hong Kong. Harpal requested asylum as part of a conspiracy orchestrated by Sunny.
From 2016 to 2024, Harpal Asylum application remained pending. In 2024, the Hong Kong authorities rejected their plea and ordered their return to India. However, Harpal continued to live in Hong Kong hidden.
Possible, it was discovered by Hong Kong security agencies, arrested and imprisoned for several months. This news was a shock for his family in Amritsar, who was desperate for how to help him.
In April 2025, the Hong Kong authorities made a decisive movement when deporting Harpal in an emergency certificate, sending it to the IGI airport of Delhi on April 7, 2025. Despite returning to India, Harpal’s problems persisted. Upon arriving, the immigration office stopped him and handed it to the airport police. A FIR was recorded against him, which led to his trial.

According to Usha Ranggnani, the additional police commissioner of the IGI airport, the investigation revealed that Sunny and Neeraj had tasks of the Harpal passport and used it to illegally send another person from Hong Kong to Delhi.
