The deputy of BJP, Udayanraje Bosale, said that a monument of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj must be built in Raj Bhavan in Mumbai, instead of the one proposed in the Arabic sea, after changing the residence of the governor.
Raj Bhavan, located at the Punta de Malabar Hill in southern Mumbai, covers 20 hectares (49 acres) and is the official residence of the governor of Maharashtra.
Speaking to journalists on Satara on Monday, Bhosale, a descendant of King Marathha, said that the 40 acres plot is ideal for the Shivaji Maharaj monument and could help avoid ecological challenges linked to build it on the high seas.
“Raj Bhavan can be changed to another part. The site is perfect, expansive and surrounded by the sea on three sides. If the mayor’s bungalow (in Mumbai) can become a monument (for the founder of Shiv Sena, Bal Thakeray), why not this?” Asked the deputy of Satara.
