Residents of the city of Thalainyar Panchayat in the Nagapattinam district have urged the district administration to improve the existing bus stop, citing poor infrastructure and lack of basic comfort.
They said that the current installation is inadequate to meet the growing needs of the city, which served as a key transit point to place as Javur, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Belthuraipondi, Vedareanyam and Nagattam.
The bus stop, located along Thalainyar Main Road near a bridge, had a limited space, which led to congestion and operational difficulties. The passengers were fine to the difficulties because either the lack or drinking water, toilets, seats and refuge.
Kamal Ram, Secretary of the District of Thamizhaga Cauryy Vivasayigal Sangam, said: “A new and improved bus terminal with additional land, adequate bathrooms, seats and commercial establishments must be planned. Official sources of the city Panchayat said that discussions were being made to build a new bus stop and that a proposal would soon be presented to the government.
