The mini buses will begin to place in 67 new sanctioned routes in the district of Coimbatore and 88 new routes in the Tarupur district from June 15, to a maximum distance of 25 km according to the recently judged government order.
The order has extended the allowed distance for the operation of mini buses in five km, from the existing 20 km. The maximum length of the route was set at 25 km from 17 km that covers on non -completed routes and eight on served routes.
According to the revised rate structure made for mini buses announced earlier this year, according to MV law of 1988, ₹ 4 will be charged for the first four km, ₹ 5 by 4 to 6 km, ₹ 6 by 6 to 8 km, ₹ 7 by 8 to 18 km, ₹ 9 for 10 km.
For the five km aggregates, the rate structure will be ₹ 10 by 20 km to 22 km, ₹ 10 for 22 to 24 km and ₹ 11 for up to 26 km. An additional kilometer is allowed if the adjacent area is a government hospital, a upper secondary school, university, railway station, etc., as determined by the regional transport authority in question.
The minibuses will be largely operated on new routes where the unfulfilled routes would not be less than 65 percent of the total distance, said a high transport official.
Gandhipuram, KG Stop Hospital and Nava India stop the figure between the starting points for the mini buses in Coimbatore, said the official.
