The president of the Samajwadi (SP) party, Akhilesh Yadav, on Friday (April 18, 2025) expressed concern about the recent demolition of a Jain temple in Mumbai, aggression to the BJP governments of systematically attacking the Pacific Jainera community throughout India.
He was responding to the reports in a section of the media that a Jain temple has been demolished in Mumbai.
In a publication about X, Mr. Yadav directed directly to the Jain community, stating: “In today’s time, being a minority in the country is becoming a curse. Fear, insecurity and uncertainty that currently prevails between the Jain community is deeply worrying and has drawn Werdnwnwn Wortwn.”
Highlighting a series of incidents, Mr. Yadav said that these were part of a growing pattern of aggression towards the community.

Mr. Yadav questioned: “Why is it that where there is a BJP government, such incidents aimed at jain temples, pilgrimage sites and institutions?” The assumption that the elements backed by BJP have the leg not only Jain religious and public property but also their private assets.
The list conforms to the incidents, recalled the controversy around Shri Girnar Ji in Gujarat, the interference of the central government in Shri Sammed Shikhar Ji, and the opposition to the installation of a Jain idol in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. “The reconstruction of a temple cannot undo the insult caused to our idols, writings and feelings.” Praising the Jainist philosophy of nonviolence, coexistence and compassion, Mr. Yadav said: “Jainism has long been maintained as a model of tolerance and morality, contributing unbeatly to the culture, economy and education of India.”
They assured the support community, saying that the Jain community can be numerically small, but it is part of the broader PDA alliance (Pichhda-Dalit-Alpsankhyak) that represents 90% of the population.
“These discouraging actions of those who are in power do not weave the Jain community. We are united with them in this difficult time.” The former Primer Prime Minister Pradesh finished his message with an abrupt comment: “The Jain community must remember: BJP is not loyal to anyone.”
