A jump in the success rate of the school exam is as worrying as a fall, as it suggests contrasting reactions to the results in two northeast states.
Days after the Voice of the People Party (VPP), the new Meghalaya Regional Party in El Alza, criticized the state government for promoting gift books to record an unprecedented pass percentage of 87.10, the Education of Sucam Education of Sucam de Congam.
On Friday (April 11, 2025) the results of the Secondary School Departure Certificate or the Class X examination carried out by the Assam Secondary Education Board (April 11, 2025) were announced. The percentage of general approval fell to 63.98% of 75.7% in 2024.
The deputy of Congress Gaurav Gogoi said the results raise serious concerns. “This is a clear sign that the Government is failing in the youth of Assam. The only approach to the Government of Himanta Biswa Sarma is to close the schools,” he said, questioning the effectiveness of the established so desired model.
“The main minister must allow the Minister of Education to perform his duties in search of leaving him aside continuously. The Assam’s government must take urgent and specific measures to improve access, heritage and quality in secondary education,” Gogoi said.

Ranoj Pugu, the Minister of Education, said that the percentage of approval between scheduled castes and the “tea garden” or Adivasi students was below the state average at 58.56% and 51.89% respectively.
“In the 2025-26 academic year, the Department of Education will prioritize the interventions focused on these two social sectors to close the learning gap and promote inclusive educational growth,” he said.
In reaction to Mr. Gogoi, Prime Minister Sarma said that the “tea tribe” crossed the 50% threshold for the first time, which was a significant social milestone that reflects the growing aspirations and dissemination efforts on tea culture belts.
Hello, they also said that the students of the programmed tribe exceeded (71.32%) to the general category students, underlining the focused educational support and the growing academic confidence between the tribal and marginalized communities.
Mr. Sarma also said that this year’s exam marked a pedagogical change as the entire question document format was redesigned, focusing on the knowledge and evaluation of concepts, a rupture of the memory learning style seen above.
With guide
In Meghalaya, the VPP has criticized the coalition government led by the National People’s Party for using guides to feed a percentage of 87.10 record approval more than twice the 2024 figure in some districts potentially at the expense of the children’s future. On April 5, the state high school departure certificate or the results of the Class X examination were declared.

“We are happy that most students have succeeded, but we are concerned about the quality of education. If the percentage of high pass does not translate into higher learning results, we are harming our children,” VPPerson.
Demanded the unscathed guidelines oriented to the exams provided under the CM impact (initiative of the main minister to maximize the pass and triumph project in the classroom, launched in 2024). Educators in Meghalaya have been questioning the usefulness of these guides, who consider that they may not strengthen the students’s basis for higher studies.
The Minister of Education of Meghalaya, Rakkam A. Sangma, responded to the criticism of the VPP. “These guides are not mandatory, and the results reflect the hard work that students,” he said.
“People were unhappy when the results were for. They are not yet happy when the results have improved significantly,” he added.
The X -class success rate in Meghalaya was 55.8% in 2024.
