Security measures have been increased in Reasi, Jammu and Cashmiro in preparation for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration of the UDHAMPUR-SRINAGAR-BARAMULLA RAIL LINK (USBRL) project on April 19.

Dilip Kumar, Executive Information and Advertising Director (ED/IP) at the Railroads Board, said the 272 km section, including a 119 km tunnel, is a key development for the connectivity of the region.

He said: “It has been the dream of all Indians to have a train that goes to Kashmir. For this, we have made long preparations, and now this section of the USBRL is ready.”

“There is a tunnel of 119 km in this section of 272 km. This whole area is very important for religious, tourist and puppy connectivity needs,” he added.

In addition, he mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the USBRL project on April 19 “. In addition, he pointed out that on the day of its inauguration, two Vande Bharat Express trains will begin the service, one that goes from Srinagar and the other of Katra to Srinagar. “On the date of the beginning of the project, we have planned to execute two Vande Bharat Express trains. One of the Bharat Express trains will extend from Srinagar, and the other will run from Katra to Srinagar,” said the executive director of the Railway Board.

On January 23, Indian Railways tested the first Vande Bharat train from Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra train to the Srinagar railway station. The train will cross the Anji Khad bridge, the first railway bridge in India and the Chenab bridge, which is the highest railway bridge in the world. This train has been designed for the cold climatic conditions of the Kashmir Valley.
