The sheikh of the Nadaswaram Chinna Moulana exponent to carnatic music was retired in a two -day program organized by Dr. Chinnnoulana Memorial Trust (DCMT) in Srirangam.

The event from April 12 to 13 marks the validation of the celebrations of the centenary of the childbirth of Sheikh Chinna Moulana and the 26th concert ‘Shardhanjali’ (tribute) in memory of the teacher.

On Saturday night, the Minister of the Municipal Administration, Kn Nehru, appointed the street where the exponent resided in Srirangam, such as the ‘Dr. Chinna Moulana Salai ‘in a special ceremony. The collector of the district M. Pradep Kumar, Mayor M. Anbazhagan and the Trusts DCMT S. Kasim and S. Babu were present.

This was followed by the farewell ceremony of the one -year pennenar celebrations.

The celebrations of the Centenary of the Birth were launched on April 5, 2024. The tax concerts were held in the United States, Mumbai, Kumbakonam, Chennai and Tipur throughout the year.

In his presidential speech on Saturday, the mayor praised the dedication of Sheikh Chinna Moulana to his art, which had made the Mangala Isai (Auspicious music) or Nadaswaram and Thavil approach a global audience.

Originally from Karavadi in Andhra Pradesh, the family of Sheikh Chinna Moulana has about three centuries of interpreting Nadaswaram.

Mr. Kasim, his grandson and disciple, launched a CD on Duraikannu Pillai under whose tutelage of Sheikh Chinna Moulana perfected his Nadaswaram technique.

A cash adjudication of ₹ 25,000 each was delivered to the vice presidents of Nadaswaram and Tail, Desbandhu and B. Murugapoopathi artists, respectively. In addition to this, the best artists from Nadaswaram and Tail S. Sethuraman and B. Arvintharaj were congratulated with cash awards for ₹ 15,000 each by 2024-25.

The Manufacturers of Instruments S. Fishil Kumar (Nadaswaram) and P. Srinivasan (Thavil) were formatted. Nadaswaram and Thavil students received instruments as gifts.

A vocal concert by Exponent Sándep Narayan accompanied by HN Bhaskar in Violin, Trivandrum Balaji in Mridangam and Anirudh Athreya in Kanjira was a hero as part of Saturday’s program.

The tribute concert on Sunday presents an instrumental recital of the Nadaswaram TS Pandiyan and TS Sethuraman exponents accompanied by Thavil Vidwans Mr. Vasudevan and TG Babu.

V. Vasudevan, managing director, Sangu Chakra Hotels (who runs the Sangam Hotel in Tuchi), and N. Sekar, secretary, Rasika Ranjana Sabha, spoke.
